1) sometimes had a pair of 3's and when I kept them I was told that I had nothing and should have thrown out all cards.
2) sometimes I had A, K, 10, all different suits plus 2more, when I threw all out I was told I had either 3 or 4 cards of a royal flush and I should have kept those cards.
3) sometimes I've had four of a suit and one of another suit and I has told I should have kept all cards since I had a flush |

Hmmh... that's interesting.
Depending on the game you play a Pair is worthless and considered "nothing" by the tutor, of course. A pair of 3s in particular is worthless unless it is expanded into 3 of a Kind or supplemented by another Pair. Once again, the pair of 3s by itself has no value. I know it feels weird but especially in "Deuces Wild" games, the statistics dictate to throw away such a low pair.
As for your second case, the message should have read that you have three to a "Straight Flush." If your message said "Royal Flush" I will have to look into that.
The third case is peculiar and I've never seen this happening. You weren't playing "Deuces Wild" again and had a "2" as the fifth card, did you? |

I have had a few problems with this game as well - I am playing "Jacks or Better" and have had several times that it hasn't paid off for a pair of aces. Once it paid nothing for a single pair (aces) and another time it paid as a single pair when I had two pair (aces and jacks). In addition, it gives bad info periodically, e.g. telling me that I had 4 to a royal flush when I actually had three.
Any ideas? |

I too have been having the "Aces" problem. It appears to be a single ace with the defect. It won't match the other aces to win jacks-or-better, and it won't form a straight. This occurs with both Jacks-or-Better and with the Progressive version (8/5) of the game. It may be the Ace of Clubs, but I won't swear to it. I bought this game a week or so ago, and I've been playing it about an hour and a half per day (bus commute down The Strip); it's been a wonderful and enriching addition to my iPAQ, but sure wish this Aces thing could get fixed!

I'll look into that. There was a problem with the Aces not being counted properly but that was months ago and it was fixed. Maybe the bug sneaked back in... you never know. Have you been seeing this in the latest version of the game or in an older install? |

I have blown thousands of dollars in fake money and documented 30 hands with pairs (with one 3-of-a-kind) of aces. Of the 30, only 22 paid out correctly. I am looking at them, but cannot see a pattern yet. I will keep you informed. |

I think I have it.
In the 8 hands that didn't pay off, each hand had at least one '2' (of any suit). In all of the remaining 22, none had a 2 of any suit.
I wasted a few hundred more fake dollars to prove the hypothesis. Every hand that had 2 or 3 aces (I never got 4 aces) that had a '2' in the hand didn't pay off. Every hand that had 2 or 3 aces and had no '2's in the hand paid off correctly.
Somebody check me and see if they can confirm this.
Hope this helps you debug - and get a patched version to us. It's a great game! |

I have experienced the Aces problem on my Dell Axim. It always worked OK with two or three aces when there were no twos in the hand. Each time there was a two, it didn't work. I tried the PC version on a Dell Dimension XPS R400 with Win98 and it worked OK twos or no twos! I only did a dozen or so hands on each where I had 2 or 3 aces but they were all consistent. PocketPC 2 or 3 aces with a two and no dice; desktop PC didn't care if there were twos in the hand or not. |

I just thought I'd let you all know that I have just uploaded new versions of the game in the Downloads Section. I have been able to fix a few tutor glitches, as well as the Pair-of-Ace payout errors.

I have recently purchased VP Pro & enjoy it very much, but I am experiencing similar logic errors as mentioned above. Both with the tutor & without. If you need more detail, let me know and I can be more specific.
You should probably know I am using an HP IPAC 4155 with the new Windows Mobile 2003 OS. |
